Sunshine is the third generation in our Mini Jersey herd. When she was born we were so happy to have a heifer from her dam Starlight! Sunshine is just as sweet and calm as her dam and grand dam, Moonbeam, in her temperament, but with an extra dose of interest in human attention. So far, she is our most “in your pocket” Mini Jersey and we love how much she loves us and follows along with our lead.

Sunshine’s pedigree is predominantly Holterholm and Misty Morning Farm. Both bloodlines of small Jersey cows she comes from have been bred for grazing, A2 milk, polled and smaller stature. Holterholm cows average 6,000 pounds per year (2.42 gallons per day), 5.2% butterfat and 3.8% protein.

Sunshine is a heifer born in 2023 and is due with her first calf at the end of June 2025. Her teats are all pointing straight down and look like they will be as long as her dam and grand dam’s teats. She is bred to North Woods Pioneer, and our hope is that he will maintain Jersey purity and reduce stature since he is under 40″ at almost 2 years old and both his dam and sire were under 41″ at maturity.

Sunshine is registered with the American Jersey Cattle Association (AJCA) and the International Miniature Cattle Breeder’s Registry (IMCBR).
