More about Desert Rain:

Desert Rain came to us from New Mexico, and his dam was 8 years old at the time of his birth. His dam tested disease-free from BLV, BVD and Johnes while she was nursing him and Desert Rain also tested negative for BLV, BVD, Johnes and Neospora here on our farm. He was dam raised and weaned at 5 months old, to help ensure future health and fertility that he can pass on to his offspring.

Photos of Desert Rain’s Dam, DT Chet’s Rainy Day:

Photos of Desert Rain’s Sire, SS Pendleton:

I’m very picky about bulls and this is the only one out of a nice set of 2024 calves that’s made the sire cut. Can’t say enough about his dam she is an amazing little 38-39″ stocky 8 year old cow. She feeds calf all he can drink and still milks 3 gallons a day on dry NM grass pasture only no grain ever! She goes out and grazes large acre pasture and comes in twice daily to be milked. She maintains wonderful body condition. She has large orifices, long easy to hand milk teats, excellent udder attachment that has stood the test of time and she has been allowed to raise every calf she’s had. Has never had any metabolic issues or been sick a day in her life. She has bred back first heat cycle after every calf she’s had. I’ve kept every heifer she’s given, one is only 35″ at 5 years old, she’s always had tiny healthy little calves. Sire is Sure Shot Pendleton. Between his Dam and his Sire this boy should really add milk to your herd. He’s got heavy milking lines. And from his mama should be excellent downsizer too. He’s light colored painted. He is dam raised in pasture and very respectful of humans. Born at 19-20″ picture at little over a month old 22-23″.
