Sunny was naturally conceived and comes from generations of grass fed cattle on both sides of his pedigree. His sire was last measured at 40 inches at 2 years and dam was 42 inches at 2 years. We believe Sunny is going to stay near the upper limit of mini size, though we cannot guarantee his final height.

Sunny has a calm and slightly aloof temperament. He is comfortable with people and will stand still to let us approach, put on his halter etc but he doesn’t seek us out. He has been socialized with his dam as well as other calves and cows in the herd, is accustomed to being handled by adults and children and gets along well with our livestock guardian dogs.

Sunshine (Sunny’s dam)

This is Sunshine’s 1st lactation and she produced approximately 3.5 gallons per day at her peak. The first three photos of her udder below are one week before she calved with Sunny as a first freshener. The second three photos are 11 days before she calved.

Sunshine is a third generation cow born on our farm so we have udder photos of her dam and both her granddams as well. Each cow has her own page on our website.

Pioneer (Sunny’s sire)

After borrowing bulls locally in the past, we searched far and wide for the first bull we purchased, taking our time to find an excellent Purebred Mini Jersey bull. Pioneer came to us from the West Coast, traveling all the way from North Woods Homestead and we couldn’t be more pleased with him.
