Hatching Eggs Terms
Hatching egg orders will be filled/shipped in the order they are received. At times, there may be a months long waitlist for popular breeds. If you need eggs by a certain date, please contact us prior to placing your order and we will let you know whether we can get your eggs to you on your desired date. All hatching egg prices on the website are per egg unless otherwise marked on the product page.
Important Summer Message
Due to the very high temperatures we are experiencing we aren’t shipping hatching eggs right now. As soon as temperatures drop below 85, we’ll resume shipping. We don’t recommend shipping any eggs when temperatures are 85 or above because hatching eggs that experience prolonged high temperatures may begin to develop and they will not resume development when placed in an incubator or under a broody hen.
We pack our hatching eggs using only reused, compostable and recyclable materials. We do not believe in using styrofoam or single-use plastics and will not buy them to pack our eggs in.
USPS Special Handing
We do our best to ensure hatching eggs are packed securely with plenty of cushioning and we mark all of our boxes “Fragile,” however we recommend paying for the optional Special Handling – Fragile service offered by USPS because our postmaster has informed us that marking a box as Fragile doesn’t necessarily mean the boxes will be handled gently. This fee is in addition to the standard Priority Mail rate, which you must select at checkout. It does not apply to Local Pickup orders. Learn more about Fragile handling on the USPS FAQ page here.
As soon as we prepare your order, you will get an email with a USPS tracking number so you will know when to expect your hatching eggs. Eggs are shipped Monday through Wednesday via USPS Priority Mail.
Damage and Insurance
All USPS Priority Mail includes up to $50 insurance. If there is any damage to your box or eggs, please contact your post master (and please let us know too).
If your eggs arrive cracked or broken, please notify us as soon as possible in order to receive a refund. Any free egg(s) included in your order will be considered a replacement for any damaged egg(s).
Hatch Not Guaranteed
Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that your eggs will hatch. Even experienced poultry keepers with high-end hatching equipment often have mixed hatching success.
Added as of 7/14/2019: Any orders canceled by the customer due to not adhering to the above terms will be subject to a $5 cancelation fee. We have spent an inordinate amount of time on correspondence and refunding orders that were placed expecting immediate shipping or with free local pickup but the customer expected shipping etc. Please make sure you understand our terms before placing your order.
